Struggle Brings Strength

L'appel du Vide

"The Call of the Void"

There are times in our lives that we find ourselves surrounded by emptiness, sitting at the edge of an endless void. When we stare into the abyss, the abyss stares right back into us.

All of us experience a time in our lives where we feel an emptiness inside of us that is full of darkness, and we don't know why. This is the time that we need to remember that life is a cycle. At times, we are left at the edge of nothing with the urge to let go and fall into the void.

The darkness that surrounds us is the same darkness we see as we look down at nothing but empty space. That feeling of being lost in the abyss is a terrifying feeling, and that feeling of nothingness is something that we carry with us internally wherever we are.

Darkness and light are two sides of the same coin. You can’t have the dark without the light. You can’t have joy without sadness.

During these times,

we need to remind ourselves that as time

passes we will see a spark in the

distance. This spark that emerges on the horizon will eventually turn into one of the most breathtaking sunrises,

breaking through the darkness and filling our soul with the warmth of the light.

Life is full of struggles. We don’t always have the easiest path to walk on, and when that path becomes too difficult, too full of struggle, and too full of adversity, we need to remind ourselves that seasons change. We will be brought new challenges and new struggles. As we get through each obstacle, we pass through to a time of peace. We need to use this time to reflect where we are in life.

This is the perfect time to find a calm and peaceful place to be alone and reflect. If you are just coming out of a difficult time that has you feeling as if your world has changed, if you have a tough decision to make that will affect your life in a major way, or if you are dealing with something and can't see a way out of it, this is the time to find a place for peaceful reflection.

Remember that there are things in our lives that we have power over, and there are things that we don’t. Life tends to be cyclical in nature. We tend to find ourselves in loops that keep repeating. There are reasons for that. There are places we find ourselves in that seem to be a perfect reflection of a piece of our past. We need to come out of our comfort zone sometimes and not be afraid of the unknown.

There are struggles that we go through that seem like they will never end. The feeling as if life will consistently get worse, and have left us at the bottom of this cycle for so long that we forget what the sunshine feels like. We need to look at our lives and recognize the things that we have control over and things we don’t. After we separate choices into those two categories, we need to focus on the things in our lives that we have control over.

Take every choice and look at it from all perspectives. Discover what will happen if you change your path.

What are the positive and negative effects that these choices will have on our lives?

What opportunities will these choices will open for us?

What is the best possible outcome from not taking any action?

What is the worst possible outcome if we do take an action?

Imagine how your world will look immediately after making that change, and how will it look in years after. Then flip it and see what would happen. What can you do to put yourself on the path where there is a light at the end of the tunnel? Is it a path with little resistance, or is it a path riddled with hidden obstacles and pitfalls? Will it effect your loved ones? Will that be a good thing?

Find your strength, don’t be afraid to act, and don’t shy away from potential obstacles. Never forget you are stronger than you ever imagined, and strength and perseverance come from obstacles and challenges. Challenges you face will show hidden strength that you could never imagine you had in you. It will make you a better, wiser, and stronger person. So, before the next time the darkness consumes, you will have a plan.
